About the Ossining Micro Fund
The Ossining Micro Fund was organized in October 2005 as an outreach effort offering no-interest loans to individuals and families in need. A project originally supported by the Ossining Rotary, the fund was created as a safety net to provide small loans to help people overcome financial obstacles like Security Deposits on homes or cars, unexpected maintenance fees, legal expenses, etc.
Founding Principles
The Ossining Micro Fund is designed to empower those who use it. It follows the ethical and biblical precept: to offer financial help without charging interest. The Ossining Micro Fund is a non-profit organization set up to reach out to community members in need. It is based on trust and a “pay it forward” concept. When one loan recipient pays a loan back, the money is then available to help out another.
